Otros detalles/contenidos	Alemán: Historische Anmerkungen Sämtliche hier vorliegenden Duette sind wie sie im John Simpson's Album The Delightful Pocket Companion for the German Flute Containing a Choice Collection of the Most Celebrated Italian, English, and Scotch Tunes Curiously Adapted to That Instrument [Bezaubernder Taschenbegleiter für deutsche Flöte (Blockflöte), mit einer Auswahl der berühmtesten italienischen, englischen und schottischen Melodien, für dieses Instrument besonders angepasst] (London, John Simpson, 1745).1 Diese Sammlung, wie viele andere, die damals zusammengestellt wurden, war für Laienmusiker bestimmt. Der Inhalt besteht also hauptsächlich aus Bearbeitungen von allerhand Werken, die ursprünglich weder unbedingt für Blockflöte noch als Duette geschrieben wurden. Die hier vorgeschlagene Werke wurden aber ursprünglich höchstwahrscheinlich für Naturtrompeten oder Naturhörner komponiert.2 Die Duette dieses Heftes enthalten zwei Serien von 'Arien': die erste einem (James?) Oswald und die zweite dem enigmatischen 'Herrn Messing' [ein Scherz?] zugeschrieben. In Anbetracht des Tonumfanges und der idiomatischen Schreibart, sind die Oswald Arien spezifisch für zwei Naturtrompeten komponiert. Obwohl die Stimmen manchmal bis zum 18. Naturton steigen - eine ungewöhnliche Tonhöhe für die damaligen englischen Trompeter - gibt es aus dieser Zeit Trompetenwerke die es auch verlangen.3 Die Messing Stücke (besonders Nr. 10) sind wesentlich schwieriger als Oswalds, aber auf Naturtrompeten durchaus spielbar. Allerdings scheinen die Messing Duette doch eher für Naturhörner zu sein. Zwei Sonatinen anonymer Autoren ergänzen dieses Heft (Nr. 16 und 17). In beiden Fällen habe ich sämtliche Sätze übernommen, obwohl einige Passagen, wie sie in der Simpson-Ausgabe gedruckt sind, auf Naturinstrumenten nicht spielbar sind. Beim Aufführen kann man entweder die 'unspielbaren' Sätze auf anderen Instrumenten spielen, oder individuell jene Töne, die nicht in die Naturtonreihe gehören, anpassen.4 Die Aufführung dieser Stücke mit modernen Ventilblechblasinstrumenten ist selbstverständlich problemlos. Während die Mehrheit der Stücke im Simpson Heft (in der Tat die Mehrheit des damals in dieser Art verlegten) ohne Zweifel nicht für Blechblasinstrumente bestimmt ist, scheinen die hier auserwählten es doch zu sein, weil sie einfach dem Tonumfang und den technischen Möglichkeiten der historischen Blechblasinstrumente entsprechen. Die Stücke, mit Ausnahme der oben erwähnten, sind idiomatisch für Naturblechblasinstrumente. Die gelegentlichen Noten außerhalb der Naturtonreihe, könnten von Simpson's Bemühung herrühren, die Duette für seine gezielte Flötistenkundschaft attraktiver zu machen. Jedenfalls bieten diese hier gedruckten Duette eine breite Schwierigkeitspalette (von ziemlich leicht bis eher schwierig) und sollten die Musikbibliothek der Studenten besonders bereichern, für die Naturtrompete oder die moderne Piccolotrompete. Zugängliche Duette für diese Instrumente sind sowieso spärlich und kaum zu finden. Gewicht: 0,095 Inglés: Historical Notes All of the duets used here appear as printed in John Simpson's The Delightful Pocket Companion for the German Flute Containing a Choice Collection of the Most Celebrated Italian, English, and Scotch Tunes Curiously Adapted to That Instrument (London: John Simpson, 1745).1 This source, like so many of the time, was designed for amateur use, so its contents are often arrangements of a variety of different types of works rather than specifically composed duets. The majority of the pieces included in this edition were arranged, but probably not originally composed for German flute. In fact, the pieces printed here were probably originally composed for natural trumpet or horn.2 The duets printed here include two sets of 'Airs,' one each attributed to (James?) Oswald and the otherwise unknown 'Mr. Messing' ['Mr. Brass' in German]. It seems likely that the Oswald airs were written specifically for two trumpets given their range and idiomatic writing. While they occasionally go up to the 18th partial, an uncommonly high pitch for English trumpeters of the period, there are contemporaneous trumpet works that do the same.3 The Messing airs (esp. duet #10) are, on the whole, much more difficult than the Oswald works, but they are still technically playable on the natural trumpet. It seems more likely that the Messing works were written for horn rather than trumpet. Two un-attributed Sonatinas have been included in this edition as well (duets 16 and 17). I have included the entire work in each case, even though potions are unplayable on a natural brass instrument as printed by Simpson. When performing these works in concert, one can either perform the unplayable movements on a different instrument, or one can alter the non-harmonic pitches individually to work on a natural brass instrument.4 Of course, if performed on modern instruments these works present no performance problems whatsoever. While the majority of works in Simpson's book (and indeed the majority of works in all publications of this sort from the time) are clearly not for brass instruments, those published here seem to be for brass simply because they conform to the range and musical capabilities of the instruments in use at the time. The pieces (with the exceptions discussed above) are quite idiomatic to instruments like the natural trumpet. Occasional lapses where the music moves outside the playable harmonic series can be explained as embellishments added to make the duets more appealing to the intended woodwind-playing purchaser. In any case, the duets present a nice range of difficulty from quite easy to rather difficult and should be especially welcome additions to the libraries of beginning and intermediate students of the natural and piccolo trumpets. Accessible duets for these instruments are, after all, always hard to come by. Le contenu est donc en majorité fait d'arrangements de toutes sortes d'oeuvres, à l'origine pas forcément écrits pour la flûte à bec, ni sous forme de duos. Mais les pièces proposées ici ont, à l'origine, probablement été écrites pour des trompettes ou des cors naturels.2 Elles comprennent deux séries d''airs': l'une attribuée à (James?) Oswald et l'autre à l'énigmatique 'Mr. Messing' ['M. Cuivre' en allemand]. La tessiture et l'écriture idiomatique rendent vraisemblable que ces airs d'Oswald aient été écrits pour deux trompettes. Bien que le 18e partiel soit parfois exigé, un aigu plutôt inhabituel pour les trompettistes anglais de l'époque, d'autres oeuvres contemporaines les exigent aussi.3 Les airs de Messing (spécialement le no. 10) sont nettement plus difficiles que ceux d'Oswald, mais tout à fait jouable avec des trompettes naturelles. Il semble toutefois que les pièces de Messing s'adressent plutôt au cor qu'à la trompette. Deux Sonatinas anonymes complètent ce cahier (nos. 16 et 17). Dans les deux cas, j'ai inclu tous les mouvements, même si certains passages ne sont pas jouables sur des cuivres naturels tels qu'ils sont imprimés dans le recueil de Simpson. En concert, on peut jouer les mouvements 'injouables' avec des instruments différents, ou adapter individuellement les notes hors échelle harmonique aux instruments naturels.4 L'exécution de ces pièces avec des instruments modernes ne présente évidemment aucune difficulté. Alors que la majorité des pièces du recueil de Simpson (en fait, la majorité de ce qui se publiait alors dans ce genre) n'est de toute évidence pas dédiée à des instruments de cuivre, celles publiées ici semblent néanmoins l'être pour la simple raison qu'elles correspondent à la tessiture et aux possibilités techniques des cuivres de l'époque. Les pièces (exceptées celles dont j'ai parlé plus haut) sont idiomatiques pour des cuivres naturels. Les écarts occasionnels de notes situées hors de la série des partiels naturels peut s'expliquer par la volonté de rendre les duos plus attractifs pour les clients flûtistes que visait l'éditeur. En tout cas, les duos publiés ici présentent un large éventail de difficultés (d'assez facile à plutôt difficile) et devraient particulièrement bien enrichir la bibliothèque musicale des étudiants débutants à moyens, tant pour la trompette naturelle que la piccolo moderne. Des duos accessibles pour ces instruments étant de toute façon assez rares à trouver.
