Otros detalles/contenidos	Das Trumpet Concerto No. 3 für Trompete und Brass Band ist von fünf Bildern von Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944) inspiriert. Obwohl Kandinskys Malerei abstrakt ist, suggeriert sie stets Stimmungen oder Gedanken, welche ich hier als eine Art Architektur verwende. Der erste Satz, Rowing (Rudern), hat Swing und Bewegung, Dreamy (verträumt), der Titel sagt's, ist ein eher impressionistischer zweiter Satz, mit verschiedenen Farben für Solist und Ensemble. Im dritten Satz, Deluge (Sintflut), spürt man Kandinskys künstlerische Reaktion auf den sich ankündigenden Ersten Weltkrieg, die Musik ist extrem aggressiv und harsch. Im vierten Satz, Gravestones (Grabsteine), illustrieren zwei Instrumentengruppen und Harmonien Tod und Bekümmernis (Cornets mit Dämpfern), das Unbekannte, Ewige (tiefes Blech). Der letzte Satz, Rider (Reiter), symbolisiert den Übergang von der Finsternis zum Licht. Geschrieben für und gewidmet an Rex Richardson, der eine Klassik- wie auch Jazzkarriere führt, besteht das Trumpet Concerto No 3 aus Jazz-Akkorden und -Phrasierungen sowie klassischer Notation. The Trumpet Concerto No. 3 for trumpet and brass band uses five paintings of the painter Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944) as inspirations for the various movements. Although Kandinsky was an abstract artist, his paintings suggest certain moods or thoughts, and I have used these to form a sort of architecture for the Trumpet Concerto No. 3.  The first movement, Rowing, has a moving, swinging feel to it, while Dreamy, the second, as the title implies, is a more impressionistic movement, showing different colors both from the ensemble and soloist. It is felt that the third movement, Deluge, is Kandinsky's artistic reaction to the coming of World War 1, and so the music is extremely aggressive and harsh. Movement four, Gravestones uses two different groups of instruments and harmonies to convey both death or grief (muted cornets in chord clusters) and the mysterious or eternal (lower brass in parallel fifths), while the final movement, Rider, symbolizes a move from darkness to light . Written for and dedicated to Rex Richardson, who is accomplished as both a classical and jazz artist, the Trumpet Concerto No 3 at times uses jazz chords or phrasings in addition to standard classical notation. It is important to observe the international rules for music notation in his works: 1) independent accidentals in one measure do not apply to following measures. 2) accidentals in one octave do not apply to any other octave 3) When accidentals are redundantly repeated in any measure to avoid confusion, they appear in parenthesis (also in small size above the note). Le Trumpet Concerto No. 3 pour trompette et brass band est inspiré de 5 tableaux de Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944). Même si la peinture de Kandinsky est abstraite, elle suggère toujours des atmosphères, des réflexions. Réflexions que j'utilise ici comme une sorte d'architecture.  Le premier mouvement, Rowing (Ramer), a du swing et du mouvement. Dreamy (Rêveur), le titre le dit, est un deuxième mouvement plutôt impressioniste, avec des variations de couleurs pour le soliste et l'ensemble. Dans le troisième mouvement, Deluge (Déluge), on perçoit la réaction artistique de Kandinsky à la Première Guerre mondiale annoncée, la musique est extrèmement aggressive et dure. Dans le quatrième mouvement, Gravestones (Pierres funéraires), deux groupes instrumentaux et harmoniques illustrent mort et douleur (cornets avec sourdines), le mystère et l'éternel (cuivres graves). Le dernier mouvement, Rider (Cavalier), symbolise le passage des ténèbres à la lumière. Ecrit pour et dédié à Rex Richardson qui mène une carrière en classique et en jazz, le Trumpet Concerto No 3 contient accords et phrasés jazz ainsi que notation classique. Il est dès lors particulièrement important d'observer les règles internationales de notation musicale avec grande rigueur: 1) Les altérations indépendantes signalées dans une mesure ne s'appliquent jamais dans les mesures suivantes. 2) Une altération indépendante dans une mesure ne s'applique à aucune octave supérieure ou inférieure de la note altérée. 3) 3) Si, afin d'éviter une confusion, une altération est répétée dans certaines mesures, elle est notée entre parenthèse (ou en petit au-dessus de la note concernée).
