Der Komponist Kees Vlak will in diesem besonderen Projekt einen Eindruck geben, wie eine Komposition entsteht und wie sich die Arbeit des Komponisten entwickelt. 2. Teil OUVERTÜRE (OVERTURE) Im 1. Teil COMPOSER’S WORKSHOP – KOMPONISTEN-WERKSTATT wurden die musikalischen Themen in verschiedenen Variationen entwickelt. Im vorliegenden 2. Teil OVERTURE – OUVERTÜRE zeigt der Komponist nun, wie man das alles in einer großen Struktur zusammenstellen und daraus ein Musikstück komponieren kann. Die Einleitung der OVERTURE – OUVERTÜRE basiert auf dem Hauptmotiv aus Teil 1 COMPOSER’S WORKSHOP – KOMPONISTEN-WERKSTATT. Dieses Hauptmotiv sind eigentlich die ersten zwei Takte des Hauptthemas, hier allerdings mit einer kleinen Änderung, damit es nicht den Anschein erweckt, dass hier schon das komplette Hauptthema erklingt. Nach der Einleitung wird das Hauptthema dann mit begleitenden Akkorden vorgestellt. Im folgenden Übergangsteil werden die zwei Takte des Hauptmotivs mehrfach wiederholt. Der anschließende Mittelteil ist eigentlich die Walzervariation aus Teil 1 COMPOSER’S WORKSHOP – KOMPONISTEN-WERKSTATT, jedoch wurden die ersten vier Takte abgeändert, damit das Hauptthema sich nicht zu oft wiederholt und die Komposition nicht langweilig wird. Nach dem das ursprüngliche Hauptthema schließlich doch noch erklingt, folgt das Finale in Form eines schnellen französischen Tanzes, einer Farandole. Auch diese wurde etwas verändert und endet in einem kanonischen, also polyphonen Spiel. Mit einem sogenannten Generalauftakt wird die Reprise (Wiederholung) des Hauptthemas angekündigt: Das Hauptmotiv wird mehrfach wiederholt, immer einen Ton höher, immer lauter und immer schneller aufeinander folgend. So wird große Spannung aufgebaut (stretto), bis schließlich in feierlichen Klängen das Hauptthema erklingt. Im Coda (Schlussteil) hören wir noch dreimal und sehr schnell das Hauptmotiv, bevor diese OVERTURE – OUVERTÜRE mit einem strahlenden Schlussakkord endet. Composer Kees Vlak wants to show with this extraordinary project how a composition and the work of the composer develop. Part 2 OVERTURE In the first part COMPOSER’S WORKSHOP the composer created the musical themes and six different variations. This second part OVERTURE is supposed to show, how a composer puts the different elements together and creates a piece of music. The introduction of the OVERTURE is based on the main motif from part 1 cOMPOSER’S WORKSHOP. This main motif consists of the first two measures of the main theme. In this case, the composer slightly changes motif, so the audience does not get the impression that the main theme appears already in the beginning. After the introduction the main theme is introduced with accompanying chords. A bridge section repeats the two measures of the main motif several times. The following middle part is actually the waltz version of part 1 COMPOSER’S WORKSHOP, but with a modified beginning, so the main theme does not appear to often and the composition does not sound boring. After the main theme is heard in its original form once more, there is the finale in form of a fast French dance, a farandole. This has also been changed a little bit and ends with canonical, polyphonic sounds.
