Otros detalles/contenidos	The title of Lansky's new nine-movement work refers to a striking aspect found in Mozart's Serenade for Winds. Commissioned by the Carolyn Royall Just Fund in the Library of Congress and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, The Long and Short of it premiered October 2015 at the Library of Congress, performed by WindSync. Lansky says, "The Long and Short of it was inspired by the third movement Adagio of Mozart’s Serenade for Winds, K.361. I’ve long felt that the throbbing accompaniment was the ultimate expression of breath in music. Nothing else quite captures the same sense of wind instruments inhaling and exhaling as only winds can." Lansky uses Mozart's underlying rhythm in a short movement for each of the five instruments in turn, interspersed with four movements which expore different musical concepts with the ensemble. His movement titles (Braided Counterpoint, The Joy of Bb Minor, Long Short, and LaDiDaDiDaDa DiDaDaDiDa DiDa) are clues to their content.
