Composed for the unusual combination of Flute and Tuba, Odd Bedfellows may also be performed with Bassoon. Movement 1 is titled “At the Hippo Watering Hole,” and is full of scenic imagery. The beautiful Movement 2 takes place “Among the Pine Barrens” and features tuneful Tuba writing in its tenor register from middle C up to G. The playful Movement 3 is a game “In and Out the Window,” leading to Movement 4 “Under the Big Top.” |
